About these guides — FAQs

How are the guides on this page grouped?
By the step of buying they help with: before you look, checking a project, money and loans, registration and paperwork, buying as an NRI, GMADA and plots, areas and infrastructure, and project price lists. Each guide sits in one group, and a new guide joins its group as soon as it is published.
Which guide should a first-time buyer read first?
Start with the “Before you look” group to settle your budget and the kind of home you want, then “Checking a project” before you book. The money and paperwork groups cover the loan, stamp duty and the registry when you get there.
How do I check that a project is RERA registered?
Ask for the project’s RERA number and look it up on the regulator’s own website: RERA Punjab for Mohali, Zirakpur, Kharar, New Chandigarh and Dera Bassi, and Haryana RERA for Panchkula. The record names the promoter, the approved project and its declared completion date. Our guides in “Checking a project” walk through it.
Are these guides legal or tax advice?
No. They explain the usual process and point to the official sources. This is general information, not legal or tax advice; check with a CA or lawyer. Confirm the current stamp duty and registration charges with the Sub-Registrar before you register.
Are there calculators to go with the guides?
Yes, all free: a home loan EMI calculator, a stamp duty and buying cost calculator, an area unit converter for marla, kanal and gaj, a property valuation tool, the projects on a map, and a page to compare your shortlist side by side.
